Hey all, I'm about to replace my IACV on my 01 i30 today. I repaired my ECM, and it's pulled from the vehicle now. The IACV is the second step in repairing this non-running car right now, with the first step being unplugging those damn motor mounts :)

A few questions about the IACV replacement:

Since I have the entire IACV assemby, and a new OEM gasket, should I replace the whole thing, or should I just swap the stepping motor?

The hoses going into it, are they vacuum lines? I was wondering if I had to clamp the lines to prevent loss of coolant...

Does anyone know of the procedure for replacing this? I don't have a new TPS, and don't think I need one, but I don't want to disturb the existing one.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm a nuclear electrician on a submarine, so I've done things like this before, but I've always had a procedure or some type of guidance :)

Thanks!

Yeah, I looked in there, but all it gives are troubleshooting steps, no replacement instructions. At any rate, I found a good picture-based tutorial online and I was able to replace the IAC valve today. Is there a way to test that it's good without having power applied? My immobilizer wont even let the key turn past "off" so I can't get power to anything. I just want to make sure I'm good before I plug in the ECM.

OK, so I'm an idiot! I forgot that i straightened up my wheels a few weeks ago (when i started this process) and thats what was holding the key from turning. The car started on the OLD ECM (failed STA509a and engine mount ICs) and ran, but with erratic idle. I have the new ECM but I won't install that until I can verify the new IACV is operating properly. Thanks for everyone's help that has gone through this and posted on here. You all made it possible for me to SAVE $1900 BY DOING IT MYSELF.
