I searched but couldn't find a writeup. Dont know a whole lot about these overhead cam engines when it comes to pulling the head and messing with the timing chain. Anyway, my fiances 95 240 is giving the tale-tale signs of a cracked head and I was just wandering which would be easier- Replacing the motor with one I already have or replacing the head on hers.

both routes are pretty easy. i would just swap the motors and then rebuild hers on the stand.

if the head really is cracked. not just warped or just a bad gasket. changing the entire head is a kind of lengthy process since your going to have to reshim your valves and everything. just replacing the gasket and getting your head resurfaced is pretty easy though.

remove intake maniremove exhaust maniremove upper timing covermark and remove cam shafts keep the cam (holder things) in orderunbolt the head in the process the manual gives you, fsm can be had onlineremove valve shims and cups(dont know what to call them) keep them in orderhave a machine shop deck and/or reurface your head (maybe $75)be sure to have your upper timing cover decked with itre-install. be happy

use a felpro head gasket. def use a fsm for refrence
