Hi all, hope everyone is well. Wanted to change the headlights and understand the pulling out of the holder for them but having a rough time extracting them out. Any suggestions? Also the muffler is making some noise similar to a possible hole in it. Problem is they are installed very well (good thing right) with covers all around the actual pipes. If they do start to make noise, any place in particular I should be looking? I am guessing just have to remove the covers. Thanks.

Its usually the hangers that make noise , But I cant imagine it would sound like a leak ?
Headlights were a snap.
I recall you take the marker light out , then the strip up top that goes from side to side.
At that point all the mounting points are accessible.

Just having an issue taking off the connector. Daughter is using the car tonight and do not want to rip out a wire while trying to remove. Here is a pic of the connector.

Any thoughts?

On the muffler, it does sound like a hole in the pipe somewhere, not a lose holder, at least that is what I think. I would think more of a clanging noise if the holder is loose. I was under car and everything feels sturdy. I think they are the original mufflers.

That tab on the wire end needs to be depress to release the connector.
It may be stuck so a little help from a small screwdriver may help.
Be careful as the old plastic is very brittle.

Thanks for responding. Going to try and fix it tonight. That was my biggest concern that the plastic would break. Will let you know how it works out.

FYI if the plastic does break, that Nissan bayonet type adaptor is common to the same era Maxima also.

Think of it as a simple Lever. The tab you push down causes the other end to rise.
it has a hook end that snags the female end.
The "snag end" has been "Snagged" awhile, :gapteeth: and needs some enticement. :bigthumb:

How right you are. I sprayed up the old girl with wD40 to make her skin (plastic) more lubricated, and she was very agreeable to coming undone. :naughty: If you know what I mean.

Was able to figure it out. :)
