Replacing Head Gaskets...wtf?

ok so i wanna buy this 240sx from this guy who says it needs "topside gaskets" im guessing he meant head gaskets, but whatever. i actually just wanna know how much they would cost and how much to get them installed, thanks

it all depend on where you live and how much the rate of labor around your area. call around and you can get a better quote.

Also ask how he knows it needs the head gasket. Also ask him to define (in detail) "topside" gaskets. If he is refering to valve seals also that is not the same as Head Gasket.

Go slow on this purchase and be sure what you are getting. If you have mechanical ability and some tools you can do a head gasket yourself. About a 5 out of 10 on difaculty on the SOHC. Can't say for the DOHC.

He might be talking baout the valve cover gasket as well which cost $20 and takes 30minutes.If HG then cost $60 for the hg and should also replace the bolts but usually 6hrs labor usually cost 900 to have someone do it. You can find used ka's for 3-500 spend an afternoon installing it

30 minutes to replace a valve cover gasket! what are you changing it with your feet LOL........... ten minutes dude maybe 15 if your 2 feet tall. if the head gasket is blown your looking at machine work on the head cause its aluminium and it worps when it gets hot enough to blow a gasket. have it shaved 20 thousandths and be done with it, be sure to take the oil pan loose not off but loose, or you wont get the timing cover back on without f---ing up your head gasket.
