am i mistaken or is that the same as the chain tensioner?

if it is then you got to pull off the chain cover to get to it

in either case you still have to pull the chain cover.. i think you got the top guide and the side guide and the tensioner in the middle left area

when that goes down your pretty f*** so yea basically

valve cover off

chain cover off

id try to get the tensioner on/off with the chain on without messing wiht the chain

new sealant and boom

Ok, so I just got my car back from the shop and they basically couldnt tell me what the prob with my car was. Here's the situation. My oil light randomly comes on and off, along with that my timing chain sounds like it's going to go through the valve cover. This is why I'm thinking timing chain tensioner. Someone please help.

Anybody in the South Jersey area want to take a look and maybe come help me out? Please help NICO !!!

dont drive the car if you have an oil pressure problem. fix the oil pump or whatever is causing the low pressure. i think the tensioner depends on oil pressure to work. search a bit. but take the front cover off.

I hate to say it Nick but that engine needs to come out. New oil pump for starters and then look at the timing chain, if the tensioner has failed and the chain has been running loose there could be all kinds of damage up there plus the possibility of shavings and debris.

It sucks, but if you keep driving it you have the distinct possibility of trashing the whole motor if the chain fails or skips, heads. valves, pistons - it could all be toast.

Oil pumps rarely fail, but the tensioner or other parts can wear out and clog up the oil feeder holes. DO you have a large dent on the oil pan? This can starve the pump and cause all those problems as well...
