i have a 90' 240 and i am wondering what tools you need before going down there and replacing it. i know you need a 22mm socket. how hard is it to replace it??

Not hard, just remove the control arm from the chassis and it will be easier. 17mm or 19mm for the control arm, 17 for the traction rod to the control arm, and remove the sway bar links and the cotter pin and 22mm nut for the ball joint. After that give it a good smack with a hammer and the ball joint will pop out of the spindle or get a ball joint fork from a hardware store and follow instructions to remove it that way. Then take it to NAPA and they'll press in the new ball joint for you. If you want to save some money, you can try to press it in yourself like i did with a hammer and various couplings, (ball joint install kit from HARBOR FREIGHT......Then returned.)

hope that helps.
