Any tips on getting at the nuts? It was a PITA to remove. I was hoping somebody had thought of a way of making the job easier.

A torch is no good for getting the nuts back on. I found the closeness to the turbo in some areas made things difficult. I used mostly wrenches and regular sockets. I was wondering if a wobble socket or something else might help. I now have stubby wrenches which should help a bit.

The 2 on the bottom right closest to the turbo are a PITA with the water lines in the way. You have to use a open end wrench on those. All the others are a piece of cake with a 3-4" extension and a socket.

Thats why everyone says replace the turbo while the motor is out of the car ;)

It appears everybody has just suffered through it like myself. I had hoped somebody had found some tips by doing the job once or twice before.

Get rid of the coolant lines and it makes it much easier.

get some cheap wrenches and bend them into some good angles that would help you.

The vehicle is sold, so they would prefer to keep the coolant lines. But I understand why people use braided lines for ease. Cheap wrenches are a good idea.

it was very easy to do w/ the motor out of the car... the only thing better than a set of gear wrenches is 2 sets of gear wrenches: 1 regular set, and 1 stubby set.

Grinding the exhaust manifold washer closest to the firewall helped big time. The water lines aren't that bad. All in all I think the same job was easier on my SR, but this CA is in a Silvia, so not having a steering shaft in the helped with the downpipe hookup.

Lots of scraped knuckles and lots of time. I need to get some stubby wrenches. It was a pain doing it with out.
