When i purchased front and rear engine mount for my 2003 I35 the vendor warned me to get them replaced at the dealer. He said that since they are electrical mounts with sensors they should be replaced by the infiniti dealer because a local shop can fry the computer through which they connect. Is this something i should be worried about. The dealer in my area quoted me 4 times the money my mechanic is charging me. What should i do?Thanks for your help...

I'm not too familiar with the computer aspect of this, you may want to ask in the tech section. The labor for replacing these though books out at around 1.5 hours for each mount. If your dealer is around $110 an hour, it will be a little pricey...

Finally replaced front and rear engine mounts and he car feels like new. With 140 k on the odo driving it with ripped mounts was a nightmare now potholes produce practically no nasty noise and vibrations . Parts and labor ran me around 450. Kinda steep becasue both mounts are electrical. Now the next big thing on the agenda is eliminating that annoying rattle in the left hand side vent area. Its driving me crazy. Thanks for ur previous response. I have one question tho. Im not sure if the transmission fluid has been changed and im afraid if i replace it with new fluid my transmission might go to ****. I hear its a matter of getting "lucky" with it and im not a gamb|ing man. Has anyone had any expirience with this?
