I am plagued with plastic connectors that keep breaking. The part that makes sure the connector will not fall out breaks off (The clip).

I would like to know if there is a more simple way to replace connectors with other than a tiny flat head screw driver?

The TCS motor, ASCD (Master) (Cruise Controls) and the defroster switch connectors are broken.

Well to remove the metal pin from the plastic connector you must use a tiny flat head screw driver. With the screw drive you must push up on the tiny plastic clip holding the metal pin in place.

Pulling on the wire in hopes of pulling the metal pin straight out will not work. The wire will give before the old plastic gives trust me I tried it on some spare connectors I cut out from the 1991 Q45 that I am still parting out.

Trust me the big ones are the easy ones and they are still a b**** to replace.

I am hoping there is some sort of tool that was used back in the 90's to make replacing connectors easier.

If only the retention clip breaks, you might give some thought to 1) wrapping the two connectors w/electrical tape once you've reconnected them, and 2) fastening them together with a cable tie, or wrapping a cable tie around the electrical tape to keep it from coming unstuck. Yes I know it's not the same as a pristine connector set but 1) it's cheap, and 2) it works.

hey Paul you're not the only one with this problem. Every Q owner needs a collection of small cable ties to keep connectors closed and a roll of 1" RTV tape to replace the black rubber insulators that crack and fall off.

My MAF connector is in the pic. The cable tie holds the connector on tight and I don't have to worry about it popping off. For the naysayers, I have a new connector and pins from IOS but don't want to mess with it until it breaks (which may be never).

Mike thats truly a shame what you have to go through to keep the MAF working.

I might try some RTV tape (thanks you know who).
