replacing clutch fan with electric

I'm thinking of putting an electric fan on my 02 qx, my cousin did this when we both had identical vg powered pathys, they were always side by side, but after the fan mod he was always noticeably faster, i've heard this mod is good for 10 hp on other cars? Any input ?
