99.5 Qx4

So i have had two interior dash lights go out..one lighting a ac unit button and the other lighting the seek buttons on the OEM Bose head unit. I assume they take the little twist bulbs, but i havent ever taken "woodgrain" dash center off before. Any insight onto how to get the panel off and how to replace those bulbs would be alot of help.thank!

im pretty sure it should be the same procedure for this 99 qx, but from a picture i found on the internet, i explain how to do it.

Refer to numbers at bottom of picture, description for each one will be there.

1. take a flathead and wrap some cloth around it, and pry out the top vents where your clock sits first. Once it comes out there will be a connector going to the clock, unplug that.

2. Once the vents are off, you will see a screw on the right side thats holding in that whole panel, unscrew it

3. Same goes for here, the screw on the left holds the panel also. unscrew it.

4. Now where you see that coinbox or whatever its called, push down on it with your fingers and pull to pull it out. once out, unplug the 12v connector, the hazard lights, and any other connector there is, and there you have it its out,

repeat steps to put it back in.

hope that helped.

the qx4 interior is slightly different

In a 99 qx4, you take out two (2) phillips screws from the bottom of the wood grain panel, and then simply pop it out (the rest is clips).

We don't have a coinbox (there) but you will have to unplug a few things (hazard switch, rear defrost, etc) to remove th panel completely

what buttons are "out" on the AC? And i dont think you can replace the bulbs in the bose headunit but i could be wrong.

the years also matter too. youve posted a newer pathfinder, but a 97-99 pathfinder interior is much more similar to the QX4 - so similar that the wood grain / black plastic panels are interchangeable.

its still a good photo and the arrows give a good idea of where to pull.

Thanks for the input guys. The light that was out on the AC was the temp up and temp down button..it magically started working again. Not sure why it went out. The light on the bose head unit is the one that illuminates the seek buttons. I have not had a chance to take off the woodgrain panel to look at it. I hope you can replace it!!

for the bose headunit, i would bet 5$ that you cant replace it, or if you can, it will be a reallll pain in the a**, and require alot of dissasembly and soldering.

I wouldn't be discouraged by someone who doesn't have any experience with the question you're asking. A lot of people thought that it would be impossible to replace the HVAC lamps. I think I was the first person to take it apart and see how easy it was. Now a ton of people have swapped the lamps with very little effort. Be a pioneer and change out those lamps, do a write-up and share it with the community.

Yea i was just messin...but i appreciate the encouragement. I will deff get around to taking a look at it in the next week or so. Ive got a few little project lined up that i cant figure out...repainting the wiper arms (cant get the fkrs off), figuring out how to get the moisture out of my fog lamp, this little light project, and repainting my rubber fender trim...

Dont really know how i can properly do any of them. Let the good times roll
