My M37X has 50k miles. Starting to hear brake noises. Should I replace both the front and the rear at the same time?

If they are worn to with 10 to 15% of each other, I would do all, other wise just do what is needed.

Dealer quoted me 800 for a rotor last weekend. I ended up getting a remanufactured one from Rock Auto. Hope your brakes aren't in bad shape. If it's just pads and you're handy enough it's something you can do by yourself on a weekend. If it's calipers and the lines need bleeding that's a whole different beast.

You can just get the Ebay brake kits which are four rotors + pads for like $250 if you plan to do the whole thing yourself. I do my own work so that's what I always do...I don't even bother resurfacing rotors since for $250 I get pads and rotors.

Bleeding is relatively free if you have an extra pair of hands to help you, otherwise you can get speed bleeders for like $50. But, you also run the risk of breaking off the bleeder nipple as my brother just did and have to buy a new caliper lol.

I agree with Ilya. Lots of members use the Brakemotive kits from Ebay. I am on my second and have a third set in my garage for whenever I have to do brakes in the future.
I just checked Ebay. The kits are 39% off retail and they will fit M37x models.

Do know you shouldn't go by sound. OEM pads in recent years squeal a lot before they are worn out. So would visually inspect them.

I've had good luck with rockauto rotors, I'm partial to Hawk pads myself, so I search around for good price on those.

As mentioned above the sound alone does not indicate they need to be replaced. But If you are like me the sound is reason enough.

Soon after I purchased my car I replaced my front and rear pads to get rid of noise. They both had quite a bit of life left. The rear brakes where still squeaking so I installed a set of high carbon ProStop rotors from Pep Boys and bingo, no more noise. PB almost always has a 20% off online order deal even for local pickup of in-stock items so I take advantage of it for brake parts.
