After searching/reading many how-to's, I just want confirmation that I've got the right idea. I need to replace my left-front caliper. The bushing that was on the lower bolt came off inside the housing, and the mechanic that replaced it said that while it would be okay for a while with the bolt not all the way in, that it would be best to replace it. Well, I started to hear some shaking/rubbing sound from that location, so I'm assuming the caliper is loose, and as the car rattles, the pads are rubbing against the rotor. My plan is this:
1) jack car up
2) Remove tire
3) remove old caliper
4) bolt on new caliper
5) install new pads
6) pump gas pedal 15x
7) put a shoe under the brake pedal (no spare lumber around)
8) have friend apply pressure until pedal is full depressed
9) loosen bleeder valve, once flow slows, close bleeder valve
10) have friend release pressure
11) repeat 8-10 4x
12) refill master cylinder
13) repeat 8-10 5x
14) refill master cylinder
15) put tire back on
16) lower car
17) jack up other side of car
18) install new pads on that side
