I read on another Nissan website that the z24 engine usually blows head gaskets in the same spot as yours did, between cylinders 3 & 4. My Fuel injected z24 never blew the gasket, however. You should check the deck and head mating surfaces with a perfect straight edge, and if neccesary, have the head milled down a hair. Make sure the threads are clean for the head bolts so you get an acurate torque reading. Also, you could re-torque the head bolts after a few hundred miles, even if the gasket says you don't HAVE to. I'm just obsessed with perfection.

Dude, that sucks. You put on the weber and then BOOM HEADSHOT!

I have been reading up on rotary motors. I like that they have few moving parts and no head gaskets to blow, just a billion seals.

well truth be known now. . .there was more factors then just the carb and headers.

PO told me he just had the head rebuilt (which was due to bad valve seals so he said) which over the course of the last year i have found reason to believe the motor had been over heated.

neway, fast forward to now. . . i take the head off and it has never been resurfaced and has a few replaced valves (that i can tell) sooo, they took the head off and then didnt resurface it . top that off with the fact that they had no regard for proper tq values on the head bolts (i had to use an 18" breaker bar on 2 of the 8 bolts )

Where did you get the distributor gasket from? I can not find it at the local part store.

well it looks like all the valve guides and seals were wore out on the head so it has to be completely rebuilt :-( $270 bucks sigh.

it only comes in the head gasket kit from world pac.

soooo, yeah a couple more things i found.

1.) missing 3 bolts from front timing cover (causing leaks everywhere )

2.) no gasket on the distributor at all (causing leaks. . .everywhere )

no freaking wonder i was "using" a quart of oil every 1500mi.

the head shop said that the head was leaking so bad that it was loosing around 10 psi per second on the pressure test thing. they should have it all done for me tomorrow, i dont guess i will have time to get it installed until this weekend since i am in the middle of moving to another town that is like 80 mi away but its for a good reason, my wife got a new job and we need to be closer to her work (think 2 accidents and 4 tickets in the last 2 years and she wasnt even driving everyday)

cant wait to get the head back, i am sure the truck is going to run totally different now.

I thought about it, but i am running out of time and money for this little project. I just dropped the whole front diff in an attempt to get the oil pan out. . .tomorrow i will try and lift the motor, i must stop the oil leaks!!!!!!
