I have a 1991 240SX that's starting to give me starting problems due to corrosion on the battery cables (I think). I've noticed that the positive terminal has an extra wire and small box attached to it. Do I need to replace this with an official Nissan part or can I forget the extra parts and just repace the terminal? Not sure what this extra stuff is. There may be something there that's corroded internally

you can unbolt the red block from the existing cable end and bolt it to the new cable end. The is your main feed to all your electrical in your car. the large red cable[the battery cable itself] only attaches to the starter and is only used to start the car. once the car is started you could completely remove the red battery cable and use just the wires plugged into the red block to run the car. everything would work as designed. Most people dont understand that the positive battery cable is only used to start the car and is for no other purpose.
