thats excactly what i want to do. except also put some like 6.5 inch speakers attached to the box. that be a sweet setup. then maybe in the flat area of the trunk make a flat fiberglass piece with slots to hold your amps and then lay glass over the entire flat piece.KoopaTroopa wrote:What my one friend did was completely strip the rear seats and everything under them, then fiber glassed on top of where the seats were. He pulled up the fiber glassed mold and then made a box with that as the base. Its pretty heavy but once you slide it into the sweet spot it fits better than a lego. It definitely isn't going anywhere but just incase of an accident he did attach straps to the back and anchored them in the trunk.
you misunderstood the ohio part... i'm originally from portsmouth, ohio born and raised but i'm in the marine corps and now stationed in cherry point, nc... the car is still in ohio at the moment...mentordrift wrote:cool idea, it would be interesting if you could find some inexpensive shallow mount subs or something to use - maybe that way you could avoid have a HUGE box behind the seat. I think pioneer has something like that, but I'm just waking up and still groggy...
btw, welcome to ohio, which part are you going to be storing your 240 ?
the idea of doing this is because i find a trunk more useful than a backseat.. don't wanna use up the trunk spaces13importuner7 wrote:

awesome... [email protected] if you didn't already get it from my profilehilux30 wrote:I had the local stereo shop build a lightwight box that is flush with trunk floor level, put two 15" and a Amp in the middle, and a trunk cover board, all covered in the same material and matching the car's interior color, looks very very clean and sharp, and sounds kick a**, I'll Email you couple of pics
I'm the type to keep cars until they are beyond repair, so if I do something, it's very unlikely that I'll ever want to change it back... especially in my s13 considering it's a rebuilt salvage with odometer discrepancy all marked on the title...slyedog240sx wrote:I have contemplated this for years.I always decide in the end to leave the stuff in the trunk, mainly for the fact that even though things can be put back like they were before the job was done, with useful thinking and some mockup, the trunk will have plenty of room once everything is laid out right. One or two 10's is more than enough to sound good in a 240.
did you send it to [email protected] or [email protected] NOTE: the correct address has a zero...hilux30 wrote:sent...... don't ask me how much I paid, we traded jobs so the was no $$ exchanged
i like how it looks clean and like it's almost suppose to be there, but I am going for a somewhat more flashy interior... not to the point that it's hard on the eyes or looks cluttered most likely some fiberglass work with some glossy paint... either way... very nice workhilux30 wrote:why don't post those pics 'cause I still have not found that stupid web-site to host my pics, so go right ahead and show the rest...
lights are ok if you do them right... some will hate on you for it and call it ricey.. but honestly they're almost back to the point of being original again.. the whole fad of everyone slapping them on their hondas kind of died... just dont make it to where when they're on and you look in your mirror it looks like a f***ing light show in your mirror or as if you're getting pulled over...slysilvias13 wrote:i wanna make a fiberglass enclosure for the rear seats in my 91 hatch i was thinkin two twelves an two amps at the bottom with some lights!
this is sad, but i seriously saw some gray carpet at wal-mart in the auto section that looks JUST like the gray that's in the s13s...sebazztard wrote:oh and since were on topic, where would one find a nice carpet to wrap the box with online? the local fabric stores here doesnt carry anything like that so i usually wrap my projects in the best looking material i can find but with a clean look i want to do something similiar to the carpet in the car. any links?
looked like the roll was plenty big enough to me to cover a box or even where the backseat use to be... you could also, most likely, go to some interior shop or even a nissan dealer...sebazztard wrote:ive seen the same kind, but im talking about yards of it. that carpet isnt really long enough to work with when wrapping. they have black and grey i believe.
friend of mine use to have a j body with 6 12s stuffed where his backseat was... never got broken into... he hada motion sensor style alarm installed.. park it with windows down and ppl cant even reach through your windows without it going off... was so loud it was ear piercing... it definitely seemed to work out for himhbpignosePA wrote:im not that into stereos, but id be afraid of someone stealin my crap if they can see it.
just my .02
Look for automotive textile stores. They will also have vinyl dye, adhesives, leather, vinyl, etc. Anything you would need for an interior.sebazztard wrote:ive seen the same kind, but im talking about yards of it. that carpet isnt really long enough to work with when wrapping. they have black and grey i believe.
Menards sells carpet that works well for sub boxes. They will cut it off a big roll however long you want it.I have built quite a few boxes with it.sebazztard wrote:oh and since were on topic, where would one find a nice carpet to wrap the box with online? the local fabric stores here doesnt carry anything like that so i usually wrap my projects in the best looking material i can find but with a clean look i want to do something similiar to the carpet in the car. any links?
