I have a broken leaf on my driver side rear spring on my 1993 Nissan Pick-up. I bought a used leaf spring from a wrecking yard and was wondering if I could swap leafs without removing the whole spring from my truck. The bushings are frozen on the spring I picked up(it was cut off with bolts still in) and I am sure they will be frozen on my truck as well so I was thinking I could just swap 1 leaf without dealing with the frozen bushing. Can I do this? Thanks for any help.

It'll be a little more of a pain, but yes, you could do it while in the truck. You'll need the frame on jackstands, and will have to remove the Ubolts and lower the axle down on a floor jack to give yourself room to work. You'll likely want to replace the centering pin too while you're at it. Use big C clamp to hold the leaves together to get the pack bolted back together.

Before you remove the U-bolts, clamp the leave springs together with a G-clamp. One on the left and one on the right. Un-fasten the the U-bolts. Loosten the G-clamps simultaneously before taking out the centering pin. Take out the broken spring and insert the new one. Carefully tighten the G-clamp and make certain the centering pin's hole is lined up. Insert the centering pin, fasten it and then put the U-bolts back. Voila, a DIY leaf spring replacement.
