Is it possible to just replace the glass, rather than the whole headlight assembly? I had a rock hit by passenger side headlight hard enough to fracture a small hole right through to the inside, allowing moisture in.

I'm tempted to just take out the headlight assembly, try and dry it out, and then seal the hole with clear silicone or epoxy. Scottsdale wants $280 for a new assembly (lens alone not available anymore)..

Suggestions?

(Yes, I'm going to look at that online auction site that should remain nameless).

same problem here last year,I filled with clear silicone and zero problems since. Will replace one day,but way too many flying stones around Baltimore highways after the winter freeze/thaw cycles and the plows that dig up the roads to justify the investment.

The whole assembly can usually be found on the nameless place for less than $100.

Don't buy used as they are fogged by abrasive wear from rocks and dust.

Get the new one from Joe and get the Stongard kit on sale for $30. Go by their place of business in Bellevue and tell Leslie that the Q45 frequent buyer Brian sent you. You may get my discount.

That would look funny though with a brand new lens and a foggy one. It always makes me think the car has front end damage. You would have to remove it anyway, so just find a used one for cheap.

Barkeepers friend and elbow grease can be applied to try to polish out the tiniest imperfections.

Personally, I would rather have at least one good clear one than be kewl with two fogged ones. Moral of hte story is, get the headlight protection on ASAP.
