Long story short, ex-friend installed s14 vlsd into my s13 improperly and now the rear subframe has cracked. ordered a new rear subframe, should be here in a few days. anyone have a step by step of how to remove the rear subframe and install the new one?thanks!

well its relatively straight forward. remove rear suspension piece by piece, remove diff, drop the four bolts and wiggle the subframe loose. make sure to have enough support when that thing falls down.

i don't seem to understand how your friend would have improperly installed the subframe. these subframes are relatively easy to bend though. im just assuming installing the diff may have just finished off a problem that had already pre-existed.

that's what i mean. unless he somehow was able put the axles on the wrong side or use the S14 diff cover (which i highly highly doubt is the case), it's extremely difficult to install a diff the wrong way. even flipping it upside down i don't see that happening.

from i can tell he used an air rachet to screw the two screws in the front part of LSD into the subframe without hand screwing them in first so he crossthreaded it before it was all the way in tight, thus making my LSD wobble everytime i shift, cracking the subframe.

hmm that makes sense. this is the best time to address those bushings anyway. get the SPL aluminum bushings. it's a world of difference.
