I dont suggest doing an engine swap by yourself....bad idea. Especially if its a transmission.....

It took me about 5 hours to get my ka out, and about 7 hours to get it back in, including wiring and everything.

If you don't know much about how everything works, plan on a weekend. It took me 3 days to swap from auto to manual. Granted the engine was still in the car, that was just the transmission. That was also the first major mechanical upgrade I had made to the car.

Plan on a weekend. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

There were four of us, we pulled a blown KA24DE out of a hatch, then pulled a good KA24DE out of a coupe and put that into the hatch, wired it up, crank and drove it...took us two days. Two of the four people, including me was pretty much there to learn something and help out at the time. Good times man good times!!!!

^Murphy's Law

but yeah think about this...

nut/bolt/screw wont budge or brokeaccidentals like bending hardlineshose replacementssomething happens to lifting the motornot enough man power to manipulate the entry of working engine

whether your doing this with people or alone, removal of all connections and mountings can be soloed

when you get to that point its either you try to pull it out all as one (better with more people to push down on transmission and stuff like that)or disconnect from the transmission and drop it and pick out the motor

when i swapped from KAe to CAdet it took a day to swap and another day to reconnect everything so i dont think it should take more than a weekend for KADE to KADE

It always seem that the more people you have the longer it takes, go figure lol.

I have pulled a ka in 3 1/2 hours by myself but i always plan on having at least 2 days just in case.

That's true, I disconnected everything, pulled the harness, rad, etc. and drained all the fluids by myself in a couple of hours. I guess more people causes you to shoot the s*** with your boys.
