Hi LEAFers! My first post, so be gentle. I need to replace the hydraulic lift supports on the tailgate of my 2013 LEAF. It looks easy to do in videos for other models--just pop off the clip and the ball lifts off the anchor post. But on the 2013, the extended light panel blocks access to the clip. Do I have to unscrew the 2 bolts and take off the entire mounting plate that holds the anchor post? Or is there some easier way to do it? I've scoured YouTube, but can't find any vids specific to the 2013 and its big long rear light. Dealer only wants $296 for the job, so I'm trying to save a few bucks! Any info appreciated. Thanks! :dblthumb:

You only have to remove the bolts at the body end of the cylinder. Once you can swing the assembly you can get at the clip from the side with a pick. Don't forget to support the hatch before taking the bolts loose (skulls and brains aren't replaceable components).

Good point about skulls and brains! OK, so sounds like I DO have to remove the bolts at the body and take that assembly off. Thanks! I appreciate it.
