But as I was putting the wheels back on I noticed that that the tires weren't turning.
Like a dummy I went ahead and finished putting the tires on and lower the car. I thought they would probably loosen up when I started moving. They didn't really, and I decided I'd just put it into the garage and check into it tomorrow.
So I thought I'd check here to see if anyone has had this problem before and if they have any ideas on what to look for when I get back after it tomorrow.
I did retract the pistons, but did not lube the pins. I'll give that a shot.AZhitman wrote:Lots of reasons this could happen... Did you retract the pistons back into the calipers before putting the new pads in? Did you lubricate the pins?
Hmm.... I'll check that out too. Thanks...Rubyz32 wrote:I haven't touched the pads on my z32 as of yet, but I once did very similar calipers and pads on a Toyota and got the pads backwards. There was an inner and outer. Does the z32 work this way? Maybe. Just spitballing.
Aw geez... I hope it isn't that. I'll check that too.itsa300zx wrote:nexus08 wrote:I just got done replacing the front brakes and rotors on my Z. Seemed to go fine. Have done this job lots of times on other cars, and this was probably the easiest of them all.

Since you have an NA I bet you have the 26mm callipers and you gotthe 30mm rotors instead of the thinner ones, which are harder to find. Measure the thickness of the new rotors, make sure they are 26 mm first.
Winner winner, chicken dinner.itsa300zx wrote:Since you have an NA I bet you have the 26mm callipers and you gotthe 30mm rotors instead of the thinner ones, which are harder to find. Measure the thickness of the new rotors, make sure they are 26 mm first.
Thanks. That's what I'll do. I just put the old rotors on with the new pads for now. Everything works as intended again.itsa300zx wrote:I would not recommend turning the 30mm rotors down as the minimum thickness of them are probably 28mm. Best option is to find a pair of used 30mm calipers and sell your 26mm calipers to 240sx guys.
