I was shocked to see the replacement cost for stock 215/55WR17. Are there other options for different sizes that would work as well?

I put 235/50/17 tires on My G35 Sedan, Conti Touring ContactAS. Improved steering response and cornering , with a high milege allseason tire!

Try looking up the sizes for a comparable to OEM tire(Pilot Sports) for the 18" wheels. Even the 19's. The tire sizes for these wheels are limited so even the cheaper options are still fairly expensive. All of them are actually over $200, except for a few winter tires according to tire rack. Might make you feel better about the prices for yours...

My suggestion as well. You get a whole lot more choices with that tire size.

Here are specs for OEM:Side wall: 4.7 inRadius: 13.2 inDiameter: 26.3 inCircumf: 82.7 inRevs/min: 767

235/50/17Side wall: 4.6inRadius: 13.1 inDiameter: 26.3Circumf: 82.5Revs/min: 768

Speedometer with the non oem tire is 0.2% too fast. When your speedo reads 60mph, you are actually traveling 59.9mph.

I will probably try the kumho ecsta asx's., $106 ea @ tire rack.

I have no idea why Nissan puts these weird tire sizes on their cars. The 2k2 Maxima had 225-50-17's and there are a limited number of tire choices out there in that size. Factory tires are $184ea + shipping on Tire Rack and $200+ locally. I went to a larger tire with a wider patch and they cost less.
