Heh ... well i think i am about to go off the deep end. We test fired a 4 x 15.6 inch ribbon today in the shop. If we get this working properly with no impedance fluctuations ......... there are my new A pillar's.

8 inch in the door with those up top ....... i am drooling right now.

OMG .... there is enough room for a 1/4 wave TL in the pillar using a 2.5 inch driver. Be a little thick on the pillar. Brain is cooking...

Sorry. Quarter wave Transmissio line. a type of enclosure for speakers that Anwar Bose really likes to abuse. I just sat with my friend and the pillars from my car and measured and sketched for like 2 hours. I can install on the factory pillar with fibreglass and ABS plastic a folded transmission line using a 2.5 or 3 inch mid.

The ribbon/planar idea is going to be too wide and heavy with a serious need of impedance correction. Not to mention magnetic flux issues beyond my ability to deal with.

Ohhhhh. I am going to ruin my car after 2 months with it.

I should just drive it and shut up.

Sounds like quite an ordeal. I hope it works out for you!! I've been talking to a friend about all the stuff I want to do to my coupe when I get it. He keeps telling me that I should just enjoy it and not F**k with it. He's probably right; but I got the bug...

Ummm how good is that stuff you spray on? The under spray. I want to use it instead of Dynamat.

I've heard of that product but I have no personal experience with it. It supposed to be much easier to work with and provide the same results, if not better.

And here is the finally completed pillars. It all works, we were playing it today. Putting an RTA to it tomorrow. It sounds so sweet really deep soundstage. Dead center with the Time alignment.

And the old look.

Pretty damn good. Problem is it really needs to be EQ'd to hell and gone. A lot of cutting. I thought i would not need a sub but i will definetly put that in when it gets warm again. Rear doors.
