Hey guys, I was working on my car for a good 8 hours or more today trying to replace the turbo gasket. What a major P.I.T.A. I got the manifold out, then I thought maybe I could take the turbo out as well so I could secure those 4 bolts really good when I could actually see them. But I came across the 2 oil lines on the turbo. I didn't really want to mess around with those cause I have never done this before. Would there be a problem if I took them off, is there a problem with air getting in this lines , etc..??? I couldnt find the stock tabs to purchase anywhere, not even nissan so a friend bought a sheet of SS and made them ourselves. Getting the manifold back on was easy, but trying to access those 4 bolts where the manifold and turbo connect is almost impossible. Hopefully tomorrow I can get it all back together and running nicely again! Please give me any suggestions if you have some to make this project any easier!!! Thanks

OH yea, forgot to ask. Does anyone know the torque settings for the exhaust manifold on a 93 sr20det? I wish I had a FSM...anyone have a link of where I could download/print one? Thanks

Im not really sure what you were asking about turbo gaskets. As for the four bolts, bend back the little metal pieces to access the bolts alot easier, the metal plates are there to stop the bolts from loosening.

Dont worry about getting air in those oil lines though if you didnt drain your oil and coolant then dont take any of the lines off (it sounds like you did drain though). There are 4 lines going into the turbo, the oil into the turbo should lead to an eye screw on the block near the bottom of the dipstick, the oil return is under the turbo and goes into the black near the bottom. The water in comes from the eye screw a little bit above the oil in screw, and the water return goes into a pipe under the carbon canister. Heres a little picture. Take those off of the block then take them off of the turbo.

On the turbo there should be a total of 5 gaskets, two off the compressor side, two off the exhaust side and a baby one where the oil return line leaves the turbo. Im not sure about all the gaskets to replace but the oil return line gasket and intake gasket (before the compressor) are the same as that of a T25 off of a ~95 300ZX.

You can torque the bolts from 27 to 35 FT LB. 37-48 NM, 3.8-4.9 KG M.
