I have an issue with what sounds like the tweeters in a 2003 I35. I spoke with the Infiniti dealership and the gentleman said it sounded like the headunit needed to be replaced and not necessarily the speakers. Something in my head says, "Get more money out of him." Is there anyway to test this? Also, it appears that there is a short in the wiring from the headunit to the driver-side speakers as they sometimes do not produce any sound however if I turn up the volume a little bit it "magically" does. Does this sound like a bad headunit? If so, how the heck can I go about getting it replaced? The dealership mentioned getting a remanufactured one for about $300 plus labor but I am not so confident that they know what they are doing to replace the headunit. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
