Post

I just purchased a 2004 G35 Coupe and need to get a new keyless remote as the previous owner didn't have one.

I have been searching all over and have found some replacement fobs, however I am not sure if I need to get a specific FCC ID or not.

Can I get any Infiniti/Nissan remote specific to my year regardless of the FCC ID?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Brenden

I think the new one will need to be programmed , the dealer may or may not do it for free, you may call them first I guess. Good luck!

I think he's asking specifically "which fob" he can buy for programming, i.e. a fob from a different year/model of infiniti, or maybe even a nissan. If anything, I would ask the dealership, or wait for one of the techs

Yes.

FCC ID is model-specific. You cannot use one with the nicorrect ID on your car.

There's plenty of them on ebay.

That's what I was afraid of.

So am I stuck going to the dealer and getting slapped with outrageous cost?

So you have no idea what the correct FCC ID would be, is that right? you just have the key (no fob)?

Correct FCC ID# for your car is: KBRASTU15

And, to show that I am a kind and benevolent CEO, here's 471 of them for sale now, most for less than the cost of dinner for 2 at McDonald's:

Most benevolent indeed! You had me at the FCC ID!

So the question remains... How did you match up KBRASTU15 to my vehicle? Model year?

Thank you very much!

We drive the same car. My keys are here on the desk.

Looks like Nissan / Infiniti actually got cheap and started using that unit for several cars (didn't used to be that way).

You lucked out. Buy 3 so you have spares.

We can show you how to program them too.

I did. I am not sure if it's posted elsewhere on the forum, however it is pretty simple to pair up with the car.

1. Get into the car and lock the door using the lock switch.2. Stick the key in and out of the ignition at least 6 times within 10 seconds (sometimes it takes more than 6 times).3. When your hazards blink, stick the key in and turn it to the ACC position4. Hit any key on your remote.

If it worked, the hazards will flash again.

Once you have done this, open your door then test it out!
