Doubt there will be a 'cheap' option.

Ebay does have fob, but no key with it, still $150:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

But the programming costs will be the issue.

thank you.i actually found a fob on autotransponder.com for 93.00 with the key but it's obviously not going to be programmed. think the dealer will do it for free?

I doubt they will do it for free. Nothing is usually ever free sadly. :/

You should call and see before you purchase the key unless you already bought it. This could be expensive. I haven't ever had to replace my key though.

Didn't you get of the intelligent keys with your car? I got 2 so I always have a backup...

its better off getting the key from the dealer because u are paying for both the key itself and the programing. there is a key code the techs use to program the key. if you get the key elsewhere, you would only be able to open the doors but not start the car.

Yours came with Remote Start? I want that on my car so that it can be all warmed up in the morning so I don't gotta go out there, (lazy lol) but I don't want to have another "key" thing on my key ring. I would love life if I could get an Intelligent Key with a Remote Start button.

Might want to check different dealers. Some of them might have different prices, but prepare for something around 250-300, they are quite expensive.

well.. i actually dont. mine is from Canada and keyless entry isnt an option here but i checked the fues box and its possible to get the keyless entry for it. but maybe it will take too much money to buy parts and too long to install.

You get the bug deflector for the hood though in Canada! lol (I think)Installing the keyless entry probably wouldn't be as hard as it sounds. You could probably take it to a stereo place and they would install it. If your talking about the Intelligent Key though... I'm sure that would cost a FORTUNE!! The keys themselves are expensive, I couldn't imagine what they would charge to add it on after you buy the car.. lol

By keyless entry do you mean the intelligent key?

Yes we do have the hood deflectors here. Purchase mine from the dealership where I bought my Versa.

And in Canada we also have heated mirrors

Do us all a favor when you go to the dealer and punch the owner/manager in the face. At my wife's dealership the techs get paid 0.2 hours flat rate for programming a new key. That's like 12 minutes of work, and their wages are usually around $17-19/hour. So where does the other $150 (or whatever it is) of the fee go? Kick him in the ba11s.

The labor rates for US dealerships is probably in the $80/hour range. The $17/hour sounds great though...

Dude, we're talking AST techs here, not Journeymen mechanics. There's a big difference. I think wages in the US are currently around the $30-34/hour range, and most likely aren't going up any time soon. You can get $80-90/hour as a Journeyman, and more if you go into heavy duty mechanics, but then most Journeymen automechanics don't waste their time reprogramming keys unless nobody else is around to do it.

What a world we would live in if you could make $80/hour on the lube rack straight out of tenth grade. Nobody would finish high school.

Also, it's flat rate, so if things slow down you'll be going home at the end of the day with only 3 or 4 hours of work on your pay stub. This is why there are never any mechanics showing up on career day in expensive clothes. Most drive crappy cars too. It's not a good job for the money, you do it because you love fixing cars.

My wife corrected me. She makes $24/hr if less than 130 hours in a month, and $26/hr if more than 130.
