replacement key fob cost

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Anyone have an idea how much these costs? My wife pulled her keys out of her purse and the front piece with the buttons had fallen off exposing the battery. We've been looking for it but I'm afraid it's gone.

Will that work with the electronic start? I'm assuming it would have to be programmed to do so but is it capable?

If you do find the missing piece, you might be able to fix it by using one of these rubberized remote covers.

BTW, welcome to the group and sorry I missed you on your first post!

I would contact the vendor to be certain, but my guess is Yes because the FX also has keyless start (although it's a key-like piece you twist instead of a button like we have on the EX). And yes, it definitely would have to be programmed and the mechanical key must be cut also. Some vendors include programming instructions to "diy" ... again, I'd ask the vendor.

Cheers,David

The piece with the door key is still there so we shouldn't need that, just the front, but apparently that's where the chip is to unlock/start the car. Ugh. She thinks now that maybe something happened at the parking garage at her office where she has to valet but she can't check until Monday morning.

ked the dealer that question. We were discussing why the remote start is so much more on this car than other cars.

I was told the walk in price at parts is $180 down here. Not sure if that is negotiable, I thought to myself I better never lose or wet these keys.

Damn expensive perk to have.

My dealer here in NJ offered several maintenance/warranty packages when I purchased the car, one of them was for key replacements. I can't remember the exact figure, but I think it was around $300 or $400 and that would cover I think 1 or 2 lost/damaged key fobs a year, and he made a point of telling me they are very expensive to replace if you should lose/damage one. However, I've never lost or damaged a key (just mobile phones I seem quite good at getting through) so declined the package and took the risk....hope I don't regret that!

Yeah, I've never lost a key. I've never even needed a second key before. I don't carry the key to my wife's car around (mostly because I don't like a giant mass of keys) but apparently she put my key on her ring. She never drives my car but I guess women are just reassured by having 20 lbs of keys.

I am a little paranoid now about my key breaking and the car becoming a giant paperweight.
