Gas gauge isn't working after i drained the tank. Seems like OEM parts are discontinued. anyone know of an alternative before I start taking things apart?

after removing the trim to get to the access holes. I have a separate level sensor from the sending unit

If it doesn't work, there's this:

or this:

Both will allow matching pretty much any sender that fits in the hole to drive your gauge. Same operating principle for both, you set the sender on empty and then make the gauge read "E", then set the sender on full and make the gauge read "F". The smartwork does the rest.

Thanks VStar, this is a good possibility. Finding a nissan gauge that fits the hole is probably not that difficult. Its the float and the amount of travel it needs to take from E to F I think imagine is the hard part. You have to make sure the float can travel freely from bottom to top. One other thing. I've found the Nissan technical drawings for parts are rather poor for making this sort of an assessment.

You're most welcome! Yah, the oldest part drawings were all pre-CAD or prehistoric-CAD and largely digitized from paper, so a lot of them are terrible. The beauty of gauge-matchers is that you don't need full travel on the sender, the float just has to hit top and bottom. The matcher won't care if it's only using part of the resistor.

Well i installed it. Tank was half full. On the way to the gas station the gauge read empty. Filled it up and it reads almost full and has been holding there. I'll have to go through this tank to see if its working or not.
