My 2001 QX4 is running beautifully, everything working, no CEL, drives very smooth and quiet. 250 thousand km.
Very good vehicle, I can't complain about anything.

I am worried about being able to find another vehicle this good when this one wears out. Toyota's are too Fugly, CUV's are just big cars, and Rangies are just too flash. I was leaning towards a Frontier but they are only making them one more year and they don't have the quiet and comfort of the QX4.

Most of the other SUV's (my friends 2010 Pathy is nice but large outside and tight inside) are getting too big and clumsy for the mostly urban driving I do. I love the drive system on the QX4, putting in 2 WD when AWD isn't necessary really saves fuel and makes it handle nicer. Most of the competition isn't that flexible.

Any suggestions?

Another QX4 but earlier model with less kilometers, I got one.

But keep doing PM.

You will get another 250 Km if the body holds out, so keep it under coated, I use Krown. It does not stop the rust, but it slows it down and the stuff is good for electrics.

I was thinking the same way as ARKQXman.
When my 2002 Pathfinder finally bites the dust, I'm going to go on the hunt for another R50, preferably 2002-2004.
I'm thinking that getting one from the southern states, where there is no road salt, would be the best bet.
There's got to be some good low mileage units out there somewhere.
Patience will be the key.

I was looking at the Lexus GX470 but I realized why would I ditch my QX4 when its still perfect?

I am looking at some much different options which probably will be when I sell the QX4 (something diesel)

That's how I ended up with a QX4.

Idjit yankees are willing to come down here and spend ten grand + for a ten year old, 2wd F150 with over 100k on the clock. :wtf2:

I decided that since I was going to pay through the nose for a used truck, I might as well get something niiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Not to pour down on your love for your Qx4, as you already know, a lot of how a car runs depends on owner's attention to maintenance and upkeep. There is also some that blame the actual factory from which the vehicle comes from or the day that the car was made :lolling:

Also, in regards to your comment about the AWD and rwd auto-transfer case, the newer SUVs/Trucks, IMO, are built with better MPG technology to give you better MPGs, and in some occasions increased engine power output.

Nonetheless, good luck on your search. As R50 owners/enthusiasts, I know how frustrating it is to get a functioning car that meets all our needs - especially when the price and dependancy some of us have on our vehicles.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee's are nice. A bit pricey and I don't know about reliability but they do look nice.

I feel like I've cheated on my QX. Now I have to buy it somethnig nice. :frown:
