I've read a lot about the stock Fujita filter and was wondering what any Fujita owners have used as a replacement.

Mine should be in the mail and I was already thinking of a K&N replacement (if there is one). I know someone on here replaced theirs with a AEM. Any thoughts?

the question i ask is WHY change it?

They dont give any real gain to begin with, a filter isnt changing that.

Besides the fujita filter is "cleanable" and doesnt ever need to be replaced.

Only because of what I've read. Reports of it being inferior, to say, the Injen filter.

My intention isn't to net any additional performance from a new filter. Just to protect the engine if indeed the filter is sub-standard.

I really don't feel the whole intake will make much of a difference in HP anyway. Just doing it more for the sound.

*EDIT* Nice cat btw

early on injen was churning out bad parts for our car... created hood rubs, and several had bad welds.. i think they fixed the issues, but their Customer service might as well not exist.

Wheres the "trash talk" about the filter? whered you see its "inferior"?

Um, I didn't mean to say than anyone was "trash talking" the filter. It was simply an observation I noted from a couple of others while browsing either this or the other Altima forums I visit.

If the filter is fine, then by all means, I'll stick with it. Just trying to find out a little info is all. Thanks

Yea, short ram intakes are pretty much all the same. As you can see with Stillens intake, it produced the same gains as the much pricier, Injen. I personally would go Injen though, you get what you pay for. They messed up the first batch, It had just been prototyped, mistakes happen. Not saying anything against fujita. The Injen does look far better though, and has a better build quality. Injen is built out of higher grade aluminum alloy. Fujita is made from anodized aluminum

Its an intake pipe... does it need to be made out of "better" stuff than ano aluminum? or is that just overkill?

IDk about saying the injen looks "far better", they both look similar to me!

Too late for me; the Fujita is in the mail.

What I was really interested in was the yet to be released K&N intake. I may look at that down the road since the 2.5 version isn't even out yet.

LOL, don't believe the better gas mileage bit. It CAN potentially give you better gas milease. If you are the in the state of driving, 60 mph with the cruise set 70% of the time. Other than that, at any point you are over half throttle, you will be disposing of more fuel

random tid bit of information. drivng without the cruise control on will give you better MPG then having the cruise control on.. that is if you are capable of maintaining a constant speed on your own.

I got the intake in Friday and proceeded to do the install. I carefully began uninstalling the factory intake pieces, saving every plastic piece and bolt in case of reinstalling everything back to stock down the road.

I was test fitting the pipe from the throttle body to the vibration mount and it just wasn't lining up. I took it off, put it back on, tried to squeeze it into the hose a little more to make it line up with the vibration mount. Still a no go.

I took it back off to inspect the pipe and go over the instructions once again. I noticed this:

Either it was bent before I began and subsequent jostling made it worse, or somehow I got too rough with it. In any case, it's broke at the weld.
