We have changed 30+ 90-93 engines over the last 10 years and every JDM take out engine had the orginal oem [plastic guides].
One must assume that every JDM will require a guide rehab along with the other necessary items...........a day or two of rehab once you get the engine BEFORE it's ready to install.
We always pull the oil pan examine and clean then reseal just as with valve covers and under plenum work.
Just plan wasteful to buy/ship and engine and not do all the preliminary work to make it last another 100,000 miles.
The only way an engine swap is cost effective is to prorate it over 5 years plus BECAUSE you still have all the other annual cost that will occur.......... say $2500 for things other than engine + $1,000 per year for engine swap.
