Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the factory cd changer with an aftermarket cd changer? I would like the replacement to still function w/ the screen? The reason for this change is so that I can play mp3's without having to go out and buy an ipod. I probably the only person on earth that doesnt have an ipod. I can play mp3's on my Treo so i dont need an Ipod. Are there any other options for me?

Thanks in advance for your help?

People have been trying to do this with no luck I know of. The screen will not work with another unit.

Correct. Today's modern car electronics, that are designed as an integrated unit, usually cannot work with other after-market electronics - the programming and software is simply not made to be compatible in this way. There are no standards that are relevant - it is not in the best interest of the manufacturer to do this either unfortunately.

Every car is unique, and it would be virtually impossible for an after-market design house to allow for every possible vehicle, every possible interface and connector, etc.

Note that I am not talking about whether the video screen can be used for other purposes (depends on whether a standard video jack or some other interface is available). I am talking about changing components in the integrated unit and have it display the same way as the factory units.

Also to Larry (lfj2025) ... please reduce the size of the image in your sig a bit. It is larger than our policy allows for. See here for the details: zerothread/203223.

Thanks!
