I Replaced the timing chain. The different colored links (sliver) are where they are suposed to be. Cam is 180 and crank sprocket chain link is sitting at 5 oclock. My distributor rotor is sitting at spark plug number one. I read something about "20 before tdc" Is that the crank markings??? Also how do I check if I am getting spark? HELP!!!!!!!!

well what seems to be the problem when it goes to start?

if you didnt adjust the cams (AT ALL) then your cam timing should be fine and its your ignition, if you just adjusted the chain, if you moved them your probbably gonna have to start over

when you say cam is 180 what are you reffuring too?

20 deg. before tdc is crank and you can check if your getting a spark by pulling out the spark plug

putting it to something metal i.e. valve cover or chasis and trying to turn the car over, you should see a spark

for setting everything back to normal stock wise, either a. use a working 240 as a refference AFTER placing both engines to cylinder 1 tdc

i used a thin stick and moved the crank until i saw the stick bottom out on the top most point, that would be tdc, then set the cam for it to start its intake cycle and the exhaust to be ending its exhaust cycle

probably the best info i can give

I put it at 0 degress and didin't adjust cam's ...I just think something besides timing is wrong. Uncle bought it from a guy that said the timing chain guide tensioner broke so I replaced it for him. Installed and uninstalled 3 times and nothing so I give up. I think it's a bad motor or something but thanks for the help

Will it even turn over? I would say you could be out 180 degrees on the distributor but that doesn't seem likely.. though that was my case, had to reverse wire order as well

No I know I did it right because I did everything and overlooked everything 3times. Could the valves gotten bent from previouse owner driving it too long with no tension on the chain?

Well, I get spark. Have 130 psi for compression which I believe is enough...I don't have clue....
