There was slight rust under my T Top Center bar...so because it looked like crap I decided to replace it. I believe it was around 65.00 on Ebay New. Here is the process and pics. Enjoy.

Peeling and looks like crap

A little rust

More Rust

Ok Now after I dropped the headliner and removed about 8 or so 10mm bolts I was able to remove the T Bar...Hope you guys are ready............it's bad........but not all the way through...

The new bar next to the old one

I had a couple things I used to prep the surface for primer and then paint. I had this primer that turns rust black and keeps if from rusting..then I used some auto primer on the black primer to prep it for paint. Before all this I had to remove all or any rust that I could with a screw driver or a flat object. It wasn't pretty. Here are some picture of the car newspapered and taped off.

After it was done I forgot to take pics..I'll post them later. But you can see how good the new one looks next to the old.

Very nice work, I might have to pull mine just to make sure there is no rust.

this may sound stupid buut... why do you re-paint it over the primer if it's going to be covered up anyways...?

I would even consider some of that POR-15 product there. Use it and your rust will Never come back! (though rust isn't much a problem in Southern Arizona, I've still used their product with outstanding results!)

Man that sucks. I know to look for that now while buying. That could hurt me later. What did you do about the rust? Did you grind it down or just paint over it?
