So my 2011 steering wheel has seen better days, the top of it was starting to crack and peel, the black trim was scratched and it was just overall in bad shape. I turned to eBay and looked for one for a m37 but hey we're all pretty beat up. I ended up rolling the dice on a 2015 q70 wheel and it fits like a glove and feels like driving a brand new car again. Install was super simple. Just need a 19mm socket and a t30 torx tamper bit and you're good to go

Steering wheel was $150 shipped on eBay

Are the materials different? I got married recently and my ring is wreacking havoc on my wheel (it has a very slight ridge on it).

im not sure, it certainly does feel way better though. my old wheel was almost polished to the point of it being slippery in my hand. considering infiniti charges almost 2k for a new one, if you can find one on ebay for what i paid i think its more than worth it. just make sure if you look for one with the back button, or one that looks exactly like the wheel you are taking off so you can retain all the functions and the heated steering wheel that came with the premium/nav package.

the hardest part of this was making sure not to drop the airbag screw when putting the wheel back on, theres really no way to get it back once its dropped down there other than taking your wheel completely off again.

Did your old wheel have heated steering? How much you want for it?

it does, where are you located? i would probably be willing to let it go for $100 plus shipping.

Awesome, good job. I wonder how much rewrapping a steering wheel in real leather would cost.

I'd try and turn the wheel 90 degrees either way so the screw is being inserted upwards.

only issue with that is that the battery is disconnected because im messing with the airbag. i would have to crank it over by hand which is pretty tough sitting still without power steering. good idea though!

I didn't like the feel of my steering wheel when I bought my car back in September either; it felt all slick and didn't have any texture to it. So rather than buying a new steering wheel, I ended buying a $20 steering wheel wrap that form fits. It took a few hours to install, but it gives it a nice, new texture and makes the steering wheel just a smidge thicker to grip.

It's definitely a labor of love, as it takes a few hours to actually thread the cover over the entire wheel, but worth it as I touch it everyday and it comes out to a professional, oem look.
At the time I didn't know how to disassemble my steering wheel, and did it while in the driver's seat...managing to tuck it in around the bezel edges was difficult. I'd definitely recommend removing the wheel and disassembling to make it much easier.

Yeah that looks really good. Do you have a heated wheel? Any issues with that?

Good to know that changing the wheel isn't hard and that there is a product out there to outright replace the trim.

Yea I have the heated wheel, no issues while using it.
Just know this is a wrap, which goes over the existing leather, not in place of.

Err, that's what I meant. Visually replace the trim so the old is unseen.
