I got an Airtex (Don't crucify me, hear me out) fuel pump for the Q from RockAuto.com for under $100 on closeout. Mine has been emitting the hum of doom for a few months now and I was getting worried. I jumped on the cheap unit, as over the years I've had success with their pumps on various other makes. I got that puppy in there, and bingo, silent as anything could be.

While I would prefer an OEM unit, at almost one-third the price I'm happy with the Airtex. Just a heads up for all you low-budget guys. I'll keep you posted on the reliability factor in the months/years to come...

I guess OEM is more than $227 now?

Does it run at all 3 speeds? Did you measure the fuel pressures?

I have not measured the pressures yet, and the price from IOS was ~$260 + shipping.

ALL pumps are "single speed" , it is the FPCU that has 3 different voltage steps that supply the pump with the correct voltage depending on conditions {idle,cold start, full throttle,etc}

Well, the Airtex has been in for six weeks, and I have had no problems at all. In fact, my fuel mileage has gone up about 1.5 - 2 mpg! It is still absolutely silent as well. Not saying its the best solution, but it seems to work just fine. Just a heads-up for all the low-budget owners...

BTW, I'm sorry I haven't been around as much lately. I've been feeding my online Scrabble addiction to the tune of several games a day!

great report.. I think qship96 reported good results from a bosch fuel pump from amazon.. but good to hear theres another option.. Its been about 80-100k since my fuel pump replacement so the next replacement is in the back of my mind.. Better to replace soon than be stranded for something so simple!
