I recently posted an intro and a question on my O2 sensors. It was also throwing a code for the knock sensor when I read the O2 codes, so got around to replacing that tonight. Kinda tedious but I got it done. What I can't believe is the difference in that car with the new knock sensor. We just got it 3 weeks ago, so I've been in diagnostic / overdue maintenance / repair mode since. Is it normal to get that much of a power increase just from that sensor? It really pulls harder, I noticed it after only a few miles of driving.

Thanks for all the excellent advice here.

Glad we could help!

A malfunctioning knock sensor will retard the timing in the motor, as a safe guard against pinging (which can occur with using lower-than-recommended grades of gas). Even with gas prices the way they are; I still put premium grade in my Max. I refuse to compromise the inherent performance available.
