Has anyone done this on their truck?

Ideally I'd like to have HIDs in the Fog Lights but an H3 LED Bulb is worth a shot and much less expensive.

I've already ordered the bulbs and will post pics as soon as they come in and I get a chance to install on my '03 QX4.

It's obviously going to be more of a cosmetic upgrade as the fog lights are pretty much useless which has been pointed out time and time again.

I think the result may be unsatisfactory unless you get some of the more expensive bulbs. Oftentimes, eBay bulbs have poor light output. I think looking for some "Cree" LED bulbs will be your best bet, those seem to be the best on the market at the moment.

Our fog lights are rather substantial in size compared to some newer vehicles whose fog lights resemble cookies in size and shape; plus, fog lights are often poorly aimed. I don't recall if the aiming is adjustable for our fog lights at the moment.

Good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing your results no matter the outcome!

Thank you I appreciate it and I'm looking forward to it also.

I'll have to see about the aiming and just hope I don't blind other drivers etc since I'm not doing a retro projector

And definitely notice the tiny modern fogs compared to ours.

Sure enough, mine arrived, I put them in and they blew my fuse. Took them out and replaced my fuse, need to get a relay I guess.

The fog lights are relayed from the factory. LEDs draw so little current that they should not blow a fuse, either. I can't guess why yours blew a fuse. LED bulbs are typically polarity sensitive, but H3 bulbs just have that one wire and are grounded through the socket I believe.

Picasa for some reason does not allow it. Well just right click and open in the new tab. Picture show both driver side are regular h8 and passenger side are LED CREE.

Ive used led in my 1999 pathfinder fog lights also and they were not bad at all. they do draw low wattage so the fuse should not have blown and our fog lights aim can be adjust with the screw on the back of the housing.
about 2 years ago i switched to hid in the fogs and it was much brighter than the led.
you can also find cree led fogs on ebay too, they're are some good sellers that offer good warranty also
and they also recently started making cree led Headlights, but im not too sure how the output on that is as yet.
here is whay my hids look like:

the hids costs me around $30 per kit (bulbs and ballast) on ebay, i look for sellers that offer a return policy and warranty, you can choose either to have bi-xenon hid bulbs ($60) or single beam which is what i chose because they are just bright enough that i never have to use high beams. replacement bulbs costs me $15 if anything should happen
