so i burped the system, replaced the CTS with a new one, replaced the knock sensor, and still running like sh*t. it is running better, can bring the rmp's up past 1200 now but its still ruff as hel! this part that im getting so confused on is why it is getting so hot so fast......in like three minutes, while holding down the gas to 2000rpm, it gets way over opporating temp.

THAT sounds like a head gasket.

overheating is usually caused by combustion gasses getting into the water jackets around the cylinders. If compression is "ok" (in your case it does not sound like it is "ok") it will idle all day but as soon as you load the motor it begins overheating.

well thats true but there is no headgasket leak, it has a brand new one. my compression is good on all cylinders (150), not the best but consistant. i went and talked to a nissan tech today and he said it would most likely be a bad distributer, he said that he has had customers with this problem many times and it always turns out to be that. we also did a diagnostic test by using the ecu and it threw up a knock sensor code, so we replaced that and still nothing but it did make it run a lil better. then we checked for anymore codes and it threw up a bad mafs code, but whenever you start it up and unplug the mafs it drops idle and wants to die but doesnt....so that is working properly

SOunds like the cams are off. I had the same prob at around 5000rpm with minor bogging around 2800rpm. Even 1 tooth off on the intake came will cause that kind of bogging. Double check the cams!!

alright guys i figured it out, it was a bad distributer .........took the distributer into a nissan tech and he diagnosed it and it turned out to be bad. So anyways i wanted to thank all for helping me through this BS, it was a lot of work but we made it out ok ! Would be glad to help anyone in the future. If anyone knows where I can get some cheap coilovers, used or new, with the adjustable strut tops that would be great.
