The engine is a RB25, with the RB25 transmission. it ran fine and didn't make a noise before I switched out the stock clutch and flywheel for an unorthodox lightened flywheel (aluminum with steel insert) and 6 puck clutch (both were used but with at least 60% life still on them) now it makes a RPM dependent noise when the clutch is engaged and disengaged. Also when driving the transmission pops out of gear with a slight touch where it used to be hard as a rock and would not release without the clutch being depressed.

edit** flushed fluid, no noticeable improvement. when taking it around the block, i noticed that the noise goes away under deceleration. it only happens on acceleration and at idle with the clutch in or out.

here is a vid with the noise and showing how it pops out of gear when driving now"

Thinking possibly the pressure plate is bad? something didn't go back together right? toss it and out the stock s*** back in? toss the pressure plate/puck clutch and put the stock exedy i had and it's pressure plate back in?

any info helps before i have to tear this thing back apart and put the old stuff back in, which is a bear to do on baking hot concrete by yourself.

I would guess the bearing is bad.
Check that it was installed properly and greased.
If not replace it.

Also while your in there change to the Nismo Pivot ball.
You don't wanna have yours break and you have to go back in there again.

thanks, i beat on it some more, and it seems like it is the bearing. will open it back up this coming week if not tomorrow.

Sounds like a throw out bearing issue to me. Wrong length maybe. Could be something with the pivot bearing though. Just drunkin' ideas.

ends up that the dust shield between the motor and transmission was lathing down the aluminum flywheel. I had the correct flywheel, (cross referenced the parts number) and am unsure why i ran into this problem. after cutting an arch into the shield, everything runs fine now. possibly it was because the motor may have been a converted automatic when i imported it up the clutch lockout was bypassed already.

any other ideas why this would happen?
