After reading about it and putting it off for over a year, I finally took the plunge yesterday and loosened up the plenum to replace fuel injector #7 which had been dead since I bought the car. I'm happy to say that it's all back together and running great.
I was able to get by with removing the TB, EGR, PCV hose and IAC valve, and a couple of other well hidden hoses and the plenum lifted right up and moved a few inches in all directions. There couldn't have been more than a couple more hoses to have it come completely off.
Injector replacement was a snap. There's plenty of room to move around with the plenum propped up 4". This is my fourth one so I'm getting pretty good at it. I used a DeatschWerks reconditioned injector (have 2 in my Q now). All the hoses were supple (CA car) and everything went back together fine.
You need to take good notes while doing this job so you can remember how it all gets reassembled. Lots of hoses you can't see until you unbolt the components from the plenum and it would be very easy to overlook one. I worked on it from 8:30-2pm.
Car idles very smooth now, no more missing, and accelerates much nicer also. I'm glad I did it myself. I would have never attemped this without the help of NICO.
