+1 for what joe said. Most new amps today are stable down to 2 ohms, so that's something you'll also want to make sure of. If you can't find a 2 ohm power rating, its roughly twice the power rating of a 4 ohm-rated amp. Theoretically, cutting the resistance (ohms) in half should double the power output, but there are inefficiencies to take into considerations. If you're replacing the amp, you might as well spend the extra cash for even better sounding speakers.
