I want to replace just the PS bearing in the pulley. Anyone know the bearing size and/or part number and if it needs to pressed in/out? Same info on the AC idler would help if you have it too. The dealership wants $70 for the assembly, compared to the bearing which is $10, so there is some money to be saved. I did this on a '82 Celica years ago and saved about the same $$$.

I wouldn't suggest either. If you put reassembled them incorrectly, you may be in for more trouble than what you started with.

Sorry to disagree with MaximA32 but pressing a bearing in and out isn't rocket science. Having a hydraulic press and a full set of sleeves to choose from is nice but it can also be done with a bench vise in your garage.

I suspect the idler pulleys on the Maxima are going to be the same or similar to my 90Q so I've included a picture.

Q45 OEM idler pulley bearings are NTN 6301LLUC3, which is a sealed bearing. They are 37mm diameter x 12mm wide with a 12mm hole in the middle and can be purchased at any Motion Industries (bearing supplier) outlet in the country. A good auto parts store that will take the time to look up a 6301 bearing can get them too.

If your bearing in the Maxi has the same dimensions then it's the same bearing.

Thanks for the pic. I located an online parts store with the PS bearing 15 ID x 35 OD x 11 W and I verified the dimensions with the part supplier. They were not able to verify the AC bearing size. The 87 Max pulleys look smaller and thinner than in your pic, so hopefully this is the reason for the smaller bearing. Haven't tried to install it yet, but I will follow-up once I do.

I'm going to disagree with you and I'm not even going to be sorry for doing so. You do realize that the Q45 has a VH45 in it while that Maxima has a VG30. The Q being an eight cylinder, RWD vehicle and the Maxima being a six cylinder, FWD vehicle. Two completely different engine layouts and therefore, haveing two different pulley layouts. The part numbers for your Q and his Max are going to be different.

That would be precisely why the bearings are different Edge.

It turns out I have a NTN 6301LU in the PS idler.

As I suspected it's the same bearing as in the Q45.
