The 100 dollar ebay ones aren't very good quality and buyint OEM ones is silly. Check out SPL Parts, http://www.splparts.com/ they make the best Z32 suspension components on the planet.

I have heard of some SPL tension rods breaking before, its not a common case, but it has happened. To date the only tension rods I know that have no documented failures are the powertrix ones.....

^ in extreme situations anything could break made by any company.

SPL still is #1 in my opinion.

SPL adjustable tension rods are #1, I have the Version 1's on my Z and they are good quality, and now they have Version 2's out, which are bigger and better.

Those were the old version 1s, which Kuah (Owner of SPL) immediately got remedied, with the birth of the 32mm thick version 2s. I love my v2s.

I've heard of tons of powertrix pieces cracking/breaking. One of my friends broke some without impacting anything, also cracked some of their RUCAs and trailing arms with only spirited driving. I think the only ones i've never heard of a problem with are CUSCO and of course, the version 2s from SPL.

SPL ftw!

I should probably get my Version 1's replaced sometime since I will be taking my Z to the road course.

From what I can remember (its been almost 3 years since I have done mine), all you have to do is take out the two bolts where it is connected to the wheel and then take out the bolt where it is connected to the subframe. The bolt that connects it to the subframes is pretty long, which makes it difficult to get out since the dust shield is right there, it inhibits you from getting the bolt out easily, it just takes some force.

Also, make sure you get an alignment right away after installing the new tension rods

You do not need to remove the whole assembly or the sway bar brackets, it can be done by just removing the three bolts, thats how I did it. But, like I said, that really long bolt is really hard to get out because of the dust shield. I'm sure if you removed the whole assembly, you wouldn't have that problem.
