The original Bose in my 1990 300ZX TT sounds like crap. The "usual" squeals and weak volume that indicate the speaker amps are shot. Left rear doesn't work at all.

What do you think? Should I replace with OEM componemts or can anyone recommend a good stereo that woukd fit in the same holes. I don't want to cut.

Thanks!!

What year is your Z? The 1990s had 6.5" enclosures in the back, so retrofits are easy. Otherwise I would email [email protected] for suggestions on replacement systems.

If he's talking about amps, then he had the OPTIONAL Bose package, in which case, he still had our s*** speakers.

You can easily get a stereo to fit where the stock one goes. It really depends on what you want, how much work you are willing to do, and how much you have to spend. I pulled my entire system out and replaced it. I used the 6.5" boxes and modified them for new speakers, ran new wire to each speaker and into the doors (the stock wire is not sufficient for decent power), added a 4 channel amp, a sub, and a analog equalizer (I prefer those over digital). The result is awesome, but it took quite a bit of time and money.

As BigDogg said, you could contact ZMax, he can help you fix your current setup and give you some decent advice.

All Bose systems, to my knowledge, had the tiny speakers. Only the Bose system had the amps on each corner. So if he's talking about amp failure, he most likely doesn't have 6.5" speakers in the back.

91-96 Bose systems were all the same. The 1990 system had 6.5" drivers in the rear.
