Going to put a deposit on a Versa this weekend. I don't mind driving such an enonomy car as long as I have a decent stereo. Plus it seems stupid to drive a really nice car if I put 2k miles on it a month. Anyway......if I swap out the stereo in the car will I lose the Bluetooth? I can only imagine I would. I guess what happens at that point is I am paying for the RFID key. All in all, that might be worth it.

Looking at getting an Alpine double din touchscreen with iPod connection and Sirius. Any idea if the factory controls can hook into that?

Depends if you get a blue tooth radio as a replacement. The steering wheel controls will most likely not work on the new radio.

Unless I am mistaken, you will not lose Bluetooth. I was thinking that is a separate module kind of like the satellite radio is. You might lose the button function for the radio though. Does anyone know for sure if this is correct? Ask the Nissan service guys, they might know.

And if you get a bluetooth-capable stereo, check to see if you can use it also for placing phone calls. Most, if not all, aftermarket bluetooth phone connections are only for receiving calls.

Alpine has a bluetooth module for their new line of radios. What I want to know is how integrated the bluetooth is with the factory radio. If it's a whole other module seperate from the radio, it's easy peasy.

There is also an aftermarket adapter that allows you to tap into the steering wheel controls.....so that is nice. If I don't loose bluetooth I'll really be happy!

FWIW, the manual shows a Bluetooth "module" that looks like a separate box in the car somewhere.

what if you want to get a bluetooth car device, without getting a new stereo? Does anyone know of something that may pipe the phone's audio through a separate speaker, or the car radio, that's cheap without being CHEAP?

I have a Garmin C550 that has Bluetooth built in. It's a great nav system and the Bluetooth works very well.

I guess I will find out after it gets ripped out....or maybe a Nissan guy knows. I personally think it will be gone. I figure the audio goes from the BT module to an input on the stereo. The stock stereo must get a mute signal or something from the module. I can't imagine a third party stereo will have the same input or accept that signal from the BT module.

If worse comes to worse I get the Alpine Bluetooth adapter and I'm set. Like I said before, the RFID key is worth it to me!

Why would you pay for the upgraded audio system/Bluetooth if you are just going to replace it anyhow?

Wouldnt you be better off with just the base SL?

Legacy... US Versas and Canada Versas are equipped differently.

Yes, if he got a base SL, it would not have bluetooth. However, it would still have the 6-disc MP3 changer.

Also, as far as what's available right now, it is very hard to find an SL without the Convenience package, so he'd have to step down to an S.

Like I said in my original post, the RFID key would probably be worth it. I carry a bag with me all the time for work....so I can leave my keys in there.

If you replace the head unit with an aftermarket you will loose the Bluetooth function but you can buy a module from PAC for the radio steering controls so long as the aftermarket head unit is capable of accepting the module input.
