got a 97 pathy with a factory LSD. Its been great till now but... lately I been noticing whining under throttle so I know I need to rebuild/replace ring and pinion. but this morning I noticed I had one will spin in the rain (light accel.). and I also noticed making right turns feel funny though left turns I can still feel the LSD........ I guess I should not complain i just rolled 205K...

anyway should I rebuild the LSD? if so where can I get plates and disks. I found them for $32 ea, 24 of those are going to cost over $700... and could I maybe throw another pack for higher break rate?

Before rebuilding and spending money on it...drain the rear end, flush it out then replenish with proper LSD hypoid for your vehicle, drive around for 100 miles then dump and replace again.

The lube inside may be wrong or very old, no additives a dump and replace may take a few times. You can take the inspection port off and look inside. Ring and pinion are tough but the wrong lube can cause problems and a change to the right lube may help and may save you the money and grief.

The correct weight of hypoid is very important as is the amount and limited slip type hypoid must be used, maybe someone didn't care oil was in there.
