Replace Gasket or Entire Valve Cover

Hello Everyone -

I have a buddy that has a 03 I35 with a major oil leak around valve covers, no surprise there. I've been pretty lucky with my 04 so far.

Anyway, I realize the gaskets need to be replaced; however, does the entire valve cover need to be replaced as well. I thought I read somewhere that there was a new redesigned valve cover for the rear, but not really sure.

My friend is hurting financially so I'm trying to help him out. Will just the new gaskets suffice? I'll probably install them for him to save $$$$.

He's getting the #6 misfire code.

There are some spark plug tube gaskets to replace as well as the
valve cover gaskets i believe.

They are plastic and get hard and crack due to heat, oil etc
I think they help keep oil off of the coil packs
